Bloodstains: Bed bugs often leave behind small, reddish-brown stains on bed linens, mattresses, or nearby fabrics.
Faecal Matter: Bed bugs produce tiny, dark faecal spots, resembling black pepper flakes. These fecal traces can be found on bedding, mattress seams, or in cracks and crevices where bed bugs hide.
Bites on the Skin: Bed bug bites are usually red, itchy, and typically occur in clusters or a linear pattern.
Bed Bug Skin (Exoskeleton): Bed bug exoskeletons shed in your hotel room or furniture can occasionally expose their existence.
Musty Odour: In rooms infested with bed bugs, you might detect a strong, musty odour, but it's important to be aware that mould can also produce a similar smell. Therefore, it's wise to consider this as a potential clue, but confirm it with other signs before taking action.
Inspect the entire room (not just the bed)
A common misconception about bed bugs is that they are only found on bed frames and mattresses.
Investigate customer complaints
Insect bites could point towards a potential bed bug infestation.
Check for eggs
Bed bug eggs are laid in batches of between 1 and 5 eggs each day.
Inspect adjoining rooms
After identifying the signs of bed bugs, it is highly advised that housekeeping give a thorough inspection for bed bugs in adjacent rooms.
Our team of professionals are trained to understand the biological and behavioral nature of this elusive pest and provide effective solutions under our Bug Buster, bed bug control service.
